Wester Ross residents invited to an SNH reception in Gairloch
People across Wester Ross are invited to an informal reception, held by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), to find out about SNH’s work in the area, ask questions and give feedback to the nature and environment organisation.
SNH is also asking people to join in on social media by sending in their questions or comments beforehand on Twitter or Facebook.
The event is being held at Gairloch High School, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Thursday 16 March.
SNH is the Scottish Government's advisor on managing, enjoying, understanding and sustainably using Scotland's nature and landscape.
Sue Walker, SNH’s Deputy Chair, will host the event along with fellow board member, Kate Broughton, and area manager, George Hogg. The reception will follow discussions earlier in the day about tourism in the area and the new Wester Ross Biosphere.
Sue said: “Wester Ross is an incredibly beautiful and diverse landscape. Thousands of visitors are attracted to the area each year because it has so much to offer people who want to get close to nature. From mountains to sandy beaches and lochs, three National Nature Reserves, two National Scenic Areas, the North West Highland Geopark and a Marine Protected Area – Wester Ross really does have something for everyone!
“This informal reception is a really useful way for us to keep in touch with what the public feels is important in our work. We hope many people will be able to come along, and we look forward to meeting them and hearing what they have to say.”
The event is free and tea and coffee will be provided. For more information call Alison Rowe on 01445 760254 or email alison.rowe@snh.gov.uk .
For those who can't attend, questions can be sent to @SNH_Tweets, using #SNHengage, or posted on the SNH Facebook page.
