New SNH appointments announced by Cabinet Secretary
Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform, Roseanna Cunningham has appointed Cath Denholm and Angus Campbell to share the role of Scottish Natural Heritage’s Deputy Chair.
Scottish Natural Heritage is the government's adviser on all aspects of nature and landscape across Scotland.
With over 20 years’ experience of NHS management and strategic health roles, Cath Denholm currently lives in Edinburgh. She joined NHS Health Scotland in 2005 and is now its Director of Strategy. The executive director role is Cath’s only other ministerial appointment.
Cath Denholm, Deputy Chair of Scottish Natural Heritage said: “The Deputy Chair appointment is a tremendous opportunity to help ensure that SNH as an organisation seizes every opportunity to connect people with nature. I very much look forward to the challenges and scope this appointment will bring.”
Angus Campbell, from Stornoway, has been an SNH Board member since 2014, and local councillor for 18 years. He is the owner of two local companies on the Isle of Lewis, employing more than 30 people. He is Chair of CalMac’s new Community Board, and past Chair of Lewis Castle Trust.
Angus Campbell, Deputy Chair of Scottish Natural Heritage said: “I am delighted to take up this Deputy Chair role, which will focus on SNH’s varied stakeholders, ensuring we work in partnership on a wide range of issues, including combating climate change, tackling wildlife crime, restoring our peatlands and encouraging people to get out and enjoy nature.”
Mike Cantlay, Chair of Scottish Natural Heritage said: “I am delighted to welcome Angus and Cath as the new Deputy Chairs of SNH and I, along with our staff and Board, look forward to working with them.
“Angus brings a wealth of experience of engaging with the Scottish Government, UK Government and Europe on a range of issues, while Cath’s expertise lies in strategy, change management and partnership working to achieve fair access for all and value for public money.
“Together with my fellow Board members we would like to share our immense gratitude with Sue Walker who is standing down as Deputy Chair following completion of her maximum term of appointment. We look forward to the wide range of skills, knowledge and experience Cath and Angus will bring.”
