Locals invited to SNH reception in Kirkwall
Local people in and around Kirkwall are being invited along to an informal evening reception by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) at the Ayre Hotel on Wednesday 17 June from 7-9pm.
Ian Ross, the SNH chairman, will host the event along with Kristin Scott, area manager for Orkney, and local SNH staff.
Ian Ross said: “The evening will provide an opportunity for informal discussion about our work in the area, what we do and why; giving people the opportunity to raise issues relating to the natural environment which are of interest to them.
“This is about making our senior people more accessible to the public and is also a really useful way for us to keep in touch with public perceptions of the organisation. We hope many people will be able to come along and we look forward to meeting them on the night.”
The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. For further information call the SNH Kirkwall office at 54-56 Junction Road on 01856 875302.
While in Orkney Mr Ross will host a round table discussion on management of the marine environment with invited representatives of marine industries and interests.
SNH is committed to working with partners to ensure the area’s rich marine life and habitats are recognised and continue to contribute to sustaining a viable and thriving community.
